Thanks so much to the NYPD 41st Precinct for hosting last night’s National Night Out event! Everyone who attended had such an amazing night. Guests were treated to music from a live DJ, BBQ food cooked by NYPD officers, games, a bouncy house and even a dance number from the Police Athletic League (PAL) kids.

Rob Staada and his son Tyler went on a special trip earlier this year to Nicaragua to help those in need. Tyler, a senior at Don Bosco Prep High School, was part of a group of 23 seniors that teamed up with Mama Margarita Foundation to help build a home, bring medical supplies, and volunteer.
Like most people you've probably never really stopped and thought about all of the people that work hard behind the scenes to remove your waste and recycling from your home or business every week. You simply put your waste and recycling toter out on the curb, you throw your cardboard in your compactor, or throw your compost in the bin, then like magic the next day "poof" it’s gone. It’s not magic, its hardworking men and women, that many times go unappreciated. We're talking about your Garbage Man!
It might not be the most glamorous job, but it's definitely a necessary one. We are proud to have so many wonderful sanitation drivers and helpers working for us here at Action, many whom have been in the industry for numerous years.
So to kick off the weeklong celebration we highlight a few of the garbage men we have working for us.
The Conklin Scholarship Fund was established in 2010 by Derek Conklin as a way to honor the lives of Derek’s brothers, Chris and Ryan, both of whom passed away. Two $2000 scholarships are awarded annually to a deserving male and female student, both who excel in academics and athleticism, much like Chris and Ryan once did.
Last September members of the RoboRocks FIRST Science and Technology program visited our material recovery facility (MRF) in the Bronx. While there, they were given a tour and got an up-close look at how our recycling and waste management equipment works.
Summer means more and more people will be outside playing, riding bikes, and enjoying the weather. While the summer is a time to relax, enjoy some barbeque and have fun, unfortunately, accidents can still happen.
Here at Action Environmental and Interstate Waste Services safety is our priority. So to make sure you and your family stay safe this season, we thought we would bring you some summer safety tips to remember while around our trucks or any service truck from our Safety Team!
Today marks a very important day for us as a recycling company, as a business, and as residents of this planet. It’s Earth Day!
Each year on April 22 we celebrate the anniversary of an environmental movement that began over 45 years ago.
The idea for a national day to focus on the environment came to Earth Day founder Gaylord Nelson, then a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, after witnessing the ravages of the 1969 massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, California.
This past weekend our CEO Ron Bergamini spoke to the crowd at the 2016 Green Festival at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City.
The topic was "The State Of Recycling" and how the industry is changing. Ron highlighted the ever changing markets and how that can affect how we as a society recycle waste.
The Starrett-Lehigh building is one of Manhattan’s largest and premier landmark properties with a history of attracting world-class creative companies and elite brands. If you were to walk through the 2.3 million square foot building today you would see their A-list collection of tenants from internationally renowned designers, to multimedia agencies, to upcoming photographers and artists. The open layout and expansive raw office space is ideal for the creative community to thrive. The building is an integral part of the West Chelsea landscape and we are proud to have worked with them for so many years.
To celebrate the start of Spring, we stopped by I.S. 151 in the Bronx to meet with their environmental club.
Action sales rep Vincenzo spoke with the environmental club about the importance of recycling and how it effects the planet. He also explained in detail the steps recycling goes through from its collection at the curb to the final steps at our MRF.
